Dear AMUX friends: To celebrate the beginning of summer and the 100th member of our Assocation, we have organised a supper party on a Roman theme for all members (and accompanying friends).
The Roman era was an important one in this area. The first Roman settlement known in Xàbia was established in the late 1st century B.C. and so there are lots of reminders of the period in our Museum. We know that social occasions were important to Roman society and none more so than meals where lots of people got together to enjoy themselves.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE...
Bring a dish to share
To keep the cost of the evening low we suggest that each person brings just one dish to share with others.. Suggestions include tortilla, quiche, empanada gallega, croquettas, cocas, ensaladilla, chorozitos.... Don’t forget to put plastic plates, cutlery and glasses in your picnic basket..
Bring your own drink a –
...and AMUX will supply the cava to celebrate our membership reaching 100
Come in Roman costume
Enter into the spirit of the evening and come along dressed in Roman costume . These costumes can be very simple to put together – they usually do not require any sewing. Here are a couple of easy ideas and Xàbia is blessed with many charity shops where you can find clothes, bed covers sheets etc. which can be adapted and which cost very little.
As an password or entry ticket to the supper you will need to declaim a Latin phrase (or poem if you are feeling adventurous). A list of some well known phrases can be found through the link below.

So that we can hire tables and chairs for all
Send your name and numbers by email to amuxabia@gmail.com or leave them at the museum.
This evening promises to be a lot of fun, as well as teaching us a little about our history. There will be music, candlelight and good company. Bring a CD to share, a musical instrument. Even if you can’t play, you can sing a song. We are looking forward to seeing you there.
