![]() THE ROMAN CIVIL WAR IN THE MARINA ALTA A historical route through the Roman republican forts Friday 15 November 2013 at 19:00 A illustrated talk by Feliciana Sala, Sonia Bayo y Jesús Moratalla lecturers in the Area of Archaeology in the University of Alicante. A Roman fort on the Montgó, another on the Sierra de Segària, are vestiges of a civil war fought between Rome and the rebel general Quintus Seritorius (c. 121 BC- 72 BC) for control of Hispania. He established the port of Dénia as his main supply route and had a steady commercial relationship with the local populace. The team from Alicante University will share with us the results of their investigations into the archaeology of war and give us a historical reinterpretation of the episode as it affected the Marina Alta. The talk will be in castellano with English subtitles on the Powerpoint presentation. A resume in English will be available and assistance with translation by a member of AMUX. You are invited to stay and enjoy a drink and an informal chat after the talk.
