THE AMICS DEL MUSEU DE XÀBIA VISIT 'DOMUS LAMBERT'
Saturday 13 September. A visit to the Portixol garden of the Lamberts, the family of artists and architects whose work is currently on exhibition in Xábia, was the first event in the autumn programme of the Amics del Museu de Xábia (AMUX) . They were welcomed and guided by Milagros Lambert, herself an artist and the daughter of Andrés Lambert Jordan who first discovered Xábia and bought the land and built the Lambert house in 1920. The AMUX members viewed the garden that was created, little by little, by adapting the stony ground to the topography in a sensitive way. It includes an esplanade at the rear of the house, an area for growing crops, a palm forest, citrus garden and lime kiln plus access to a coastal creek, in which AMUX members cooled off with a swim and picnic after the tour of the garden. Today the estate is an excellent example of sustainable practice. The four exhibitions forming 'Xábia and the Lamberts' are on show until 21 September in Ca' Lambert, the Museum, the Cirne Foundation and the Casa de Cable. View slideshow of pictures HERE
