The next talk in the series “Wednesdays for the Curious “ will take place on
Wednesday 11 March at 19.30 in the Museum Alfred Serrano Donet , local teacher and historian, will give an illustrated talk about The Royal Monastery of Santa Maria de VALLDIGNA, its conquest and early resettlement 1240- 1298, the foundation of the monastery in 1298 and its history as a Cistercian monastery. The talk will provide an invaluable introduction to the AMUX excursion to the Monastery in April. The talk, in Valenciano and Castellano, with an English translation, will last approximately one hour and, as always, you are invited to stay for a drink and informal discussion afterwards in the Museum.

Saturday 14 February 2015 AMUX invites you on a Guided visit to the restored windmills on La Plana de Sant Jeroni in Xàbia followed by lunch at the Restaurant l’Amanacer The windmills on la Plana de Sant Jeroni de Xàbia form an important groupboth on the Mediterrean coast and the Iberian Peninsula. Eleven windmills in total, they were constructed at different times between the 14th and 18th centuries and were in use until the beginning of the 20th century. Three of them have recently been restored in a project by the Xàbia Town Hall, with the participation of the assocation Xàbia Viva. The guided tour will be in Castellano with an English resumé available as well as assistance in translation by an AMUX member. Everyone welcome. Itinerary: See MAP (below) 10.15: Meet at the Putxol bridge (junction between Cami de Bolufer, Cami Vell de la Mar and Carrer Paradis) 10.30: Walk begins up to la Plana (the path is rough and steep) Non-walkers should meet at the first group of windmills (windmill no. 2). This is reached by Cami dels Molins. 11.30: Meet at first group of windmills (Windmill No 2), Guided tour of the restored windmills. 13.30: Lunch at the Restaurante “Amanecer” The “menu” cost 18 euros and includes salad, paella (fish, meat or vegetarian), dessert or coffee, drink & bread. Notes 1. If you wish to join the lunch, we would be grateful for confirmation by email ([email protected]) or at the museum before Thursday 12 February. 2. Transport and car sharing will be arranged on request. 3. Please wear walking shoes even if you do not wish to climb up to La Plana, as the ground around the windmills is very uneven.
