April 26, 19,30, at Museum, talk by Francesc Reus, Xàbia in the literature
The oldest references that we have for this area actually date from Roman times. However, the first written mention of the town of Xàbia by name appears following the conquest by Jaime I in the second half of the XIII century. Written references to our area are prolific from the XVI century onwards, and especially during the XIX and XX centuries. Francesc Reus will be taking us on a guided tour through the documentation and the literary quotes with reference to Xàbia from the time of Pomponio Mela (first century BC) right up to the present time. At the end we will have some refreshments. |
